QUORA.COM- 'Vampires are afraid of crosses. But if the vampire was a Jew in its mortal life, would a Star of David work?'

Answer by Jason Corning: Yes, the Star of David would work against a Jewish vampire, and most probably against a non-Jewish vampire as well, because the power of the symbol comes from the faith of the intended victim. This means that a Jew trying to protect themselves with the Star of David would end up being the most potent defense- rather than a Jew using a cross or a non-Jew brandishing a Star of David. Here are the relevant sources-

Symbols of faith will make a vampire recoil in an instant, so long as the person holding it has enough belief and conviction. Traditionally, crucifixes have been used to repel these deadly beings, however, Stars of David, Wiccan pentacles and other symbols are now also thought to be just as effective. Vampires are so petrified of the potential wrath of higher powers; they steer clear of true believers.

The BBC Television series Being Human (which premiered in 2008 in England and was adapted for North America in 2011) has rules around the Star of David. The Jewish symbol can repel a vampire attack, although with the caveats that the bearer must not feel any affection for the vampire or be outnumbered by them, else its effectiveness is diminished; the oldest vampires are also immune to religious relics. And in the young adult urban fantasy book series The Mortal Instruments by Cassandra Clare, vampires are vulnerable to religious symbols from whatever faith they were as humans.

In The Uncanny X-Men #159, it is Kitty Pryde's faith in Judaism that allows her symbol (the Star of David on her necklace) to repel Dracula. It is worth noting that in the critically acclaimed DC Comics graphic novel Batman/Houdini: The Devil's Workshop (pub. 2003, an Eisner Award nominee), Houdini also repelled a vampire with a Star of David necklace.

Jewish vampires also will not be prone to attack anyone wearing a strand of pork rinds around their neck at night. Another religious symbol that is said to be powerful against Jewish vampires is the Star of David.

Seal of Solomon - TRUTH PERFECTED

Also known as the Star of David or the Magen David, the Seal of Solomon is a hexagon, a symbol whose outward simplicity hides a complex and layered inner meaning. There are several different versions of the Seal of Solomon, but in its most basic form it consists of two interlocking equilateral triangles, forming a six-pointed star.

The easiest way to understand many symbols is simply to look closely at its component parts and see what they appear to be. the upward-pointing triangle looks like a flame, and this is exactly what it represents.  In its most basic form, this triangle is the elemental symbol for fire. he Western tradition, the Eastern tradition, the Kabbalah, Alchemy  all are agreed. there is also agreement about the other triangle that balances on its point; it represents water.

Fire is the male element, and water is female. the inverted triangle is also the symbolic representation if the yoni. In India  the hexagram is called the Shatkoona and represents the energies of Shiva and Kali locked in constant embrace.

A 1958 Film about a Young Woman who buys a Star of David and pretends to be Jewish...

NAME OF FILM: An American Girl - the Problems of Prejudice (Part II)
YEAR OF RELEASE: 1958
RUNNING TIME: 8 Minutes and 18 Seconds

Reviewer: Spuzz - October 13, 2003
Subject: Jewish Ideals as Fashion Statement

When I first started watching this film and came across it's bombastic beginning dedicating this film t teens with bombastic decency (note the underlining) I thought for sure it was going to be this social guidance melodrama. What I DIDN'T know was that it was going to be of all things, anti-semitism! A teenage girl gets a bracelet for her birthday by her otherwise bothersome (but great) younger sister. She goes back to the jeweler with her friends when she finds out there is a second part to it. That second part is a star of David pendant! Her friends, and soon, pretty much the whole town shuns her, thinking that she's jewish. I marvelled at the lead actress's defiance in wearing the trinket when everyone, including her parents, wondered why she kept wearing it. Soon, the whole thing ends up rather pat with The Big Speech And Everything Is OK Again, but still, this has a LOT going for it and is a MUST SEE on this site.

Watching the Age of the Islamic Star of David Come Slowly to an End

Once upon a time, the independent Islamic Kingdom of Morocco willingly chose to fight and die for a flag that included a six-pointed Star of David. For the average Muslim and average Moroccan soldier, the flag they chose had absolutely no Jewish connotations whatsoever. Indeed, millions upon millions of Moroccans accepted their Nation's Star of David flag without question. In fact, it took until the founding of the Jewish Nation-State of Israel in 1948 for all Muslims to begin rejecting and hating the six-pointed Star because of its Jewish roots.
