The Star of David is on the Cover Page of the World's Oldest Jewish Bible, the Leningrad Codex

The Leningrad Codex (or Codex Leningradensis) is the oldest complete manuscript of the Hebrew Bible in Hebrew, using the masoretic text and Tiberian vocalization. It is dated AD 1008.

The cover page to this ancient text is obviously showing great prominence to a single symbol- the Hexagram (Magen David). Thus, it is logical to conclude that the leading Jewish authorities at the time (1008 A.D.) deemed it to be a sacred religious icon- kosher enough to be included as the cover page for the Hebrew Bible. Therefore, to say that the Star of David has been a religious symbol of Judaism for at least 1,000 years cannot be easily denied.

The One Dollar Star of David Above the Bald Eagle's Head

Over its (bald eagle's) head there appears a 'glory' with 13 mullets (stars) on a blue field. In the current (and several previous) dies of the Great Seal, the 13 stars above the eagle are arranged in rows of 1-4-3-4-1, forming a six-pointed Star [of David].

The identity of the engraver is also not known...The blazon does not specify the arrangement of the stars...nor the number of points; the engraver chose Six-Pointed Stars (typical of English heraldry), and arranged them in a larger Six-Pointed Star. No drawing made by the engraver has ever been found...This first die was used until 1841.
